According to Vice President & GM of G Suite Javier Soltero, their premium video conferencing app Google meet is now free for everyone. Javier said, “We’ve invested years in making Meet a secure and reliable video conferencing solution that’s trusted by schools, governments, and enterprises around the world, and in recent months we’ve accelerated the release of top-requested features to make it even more helpful“.

He said that all the services will be starting in the early week of May, so maybe you are not able to create and host a meeting right away because they are gradually expanding their availability to more and more people this week. So till then, you can sign up to be notified when all the services are available.

Soon, you will be able to start having a meeting on Google meet even if you are not a G Suite customer, a free user can create and host meetings up to 100 participants by using Meet’s Website, Android or iOS. People with G Suite can organize a meeting with 250 participants and some more features.

How to join a video meeting by dialing into a meeting using the phone?

You can dial into a meeting during the scheduled meeting time if you are dialing in to a meeting before/after the event has started, you will get an error that the PIN is not recognized.

  • Step 1: Enter the phone number that’s in the Google Calendar event or meeting invitation. Then, enter the PIN and #.
  • Step 2: From the Meet or Calendar app, tap the phone number. The PIN is automatically entered.

How to join meeting using meeting code or nickname?

Meeting code is a series of characters, organized in some manner, you can easily get the meeting code from joining information or from the end of meeting link, following some steps you can join the meeting using meeting code.

  • Step 1: Open the Meet app or Meet Website.
  • Step 2: Then tap on the Meeting code.
  • Step 3: Enter the meeting code or nickname. (Hyphens in the meeting code are optional)

For Free users, video conferencing is limited to 100 participants, and of 60 mins maximum time limit, G Suite users have some more benefits than free users. Free user has access to features like simple scheduling, screen sharing, and real-time captions, etc.

Whereas for G Suite users a maximum of 250 people can participate in a meeting. Free access to Meet’s advance features for all G Suite customers, such as the ability to live stream for up to 100,000 viewers within your domain. Free additional Meet licenses for existing G Suite customers without any amendments to their current contract. Free G Suite Essentials for enterprise customers.
